The research assistant has to be educated in the concerned field of interest before he/she intends to work in that field. Some of the firms allow the researcher to learn about the techniques while he/she is employed. But, most of the firms require the people who have knowledge in the concerned field.
Any legal team in an organization desires to look for the research assistant who has knowledge in legal matters.
The researcher involved in an editorial research team might not require any specific higher education except a degree in a college, if it does not involve much technicalities.
Publishing companies will opt for associate and Bachelor degree in journalism and English.
The University will look for a research assistant who is doing currently research in order to help the research associates in their research work.
So a research assistant in a University might be having Master degree or even doctorate degree.
Senior researchers will also work as research assistants.
The candidate who is educated enough will have to undergo required training once he/she has entered into the job as specific skills have to be learn.
