Government of Goa Launched Vision for All School Eye Health Program

 
The OneSight EssilorLuxottica Foundation and Prasad Netralaya are partners in the Goa government`s Vision for All School Eye Health initiative. The initiative is a development of the ongoing Vision for All Goa campaign for eye health. The Vision for All Goa eye health programme began in February 2021, and since then, its monthly camps have screened 50,000 residents and given 16,000 persons in need free eyeglasses.

  • Chief Minister of Goa, Dr. Pramod Sawant, informed that Identification and addressing eye health issues among children at the early stage itself is very critical and important to stop the further progression.
  • In this direction, the Government of Goa is organizing a training program for schoolteachers to identify eye health problems among children and refer them for further treatment.
  • The trained teachers will further compulsorily do basic visual acuity tests for every child before the start of the academic year.

NIA Launched `Pay As You Drive` Vehicle Insurance Policy

A "Pay as You Drive" (PAYD) policy from New India Assurance (NIA) offers a complete motor insurance policy and bases the price on how often the car is used. Third Party Coverage and Own Damage Coverage are the two parts of the policy.

  • The policy comes with various benefits. For instance, the customer can save money through discounts on renewal premiums, provided the vehicle runs within the specified kilometers.
  • The discount applied for the ‘Pay as You Drive’ is basic own damage premium.
  • In addition, the coverage will continue for the policy’s remaining duration even if the vehicle has been driven beyond the threshold limit.
  • India’s largest non-life insurance firm informed that the clients could avail of a discount on the renewal albeit at a lower applicable range.

Delhi child rights body unveils WhatsApp chatbot service `Bal Mitra`

Bal Mitra is a WhatsApp chatbot created by the Delhi Commission for Protection of Child Rights (DCPCR) to enhance communication between children and parents in Delhi. Manish Sisodia, the deputy chief minister of Delhi, asserts that "the chatbot `Bal Mitra` would act as a source of credible information regarding children and their rights."

  • The Commission for Protection of Child Rights (CPCR) Act of 2005 established DCPCR as a statutory body under the Delhi government.
  • A previous initiative by DCPCR, the "Early Warning System," helped the education department re-enroll nearly 50,000 pupils and lower the dropout rate.
  • The chatbot’s features include tracking complaint progress, registering complaints, searching for admissions-related information, and more.
  • The chatbot intends to protect the confidentiality of the issues reported through it and to deliver accurate information on a range of issues relating to children and their rights.
