Jal Shakti Minister Gajendra Singh Shekhawat to Inaugurate 7th India IWIS
On December 15, 2022, Shri Gajendra Singh Shekhawat, the Union Minister for Jal Shakti, officially opened the 7th India Water Impact Summit (IWIS 2022), which was also attended by Shri Bishweshwar Tudu, the Minister of State for Jal Shakti.
The National Mission for Clean Ganga (NMCG) and Center for Ganga River Basin Management and Studies are hosting the summit from December 15 to December 17, 2022, at the Dr. Ambedkar International Centre in New Delhi (cGanga).
Key Points
- The theme of the summit this year is Restoration and Conservation of Small Rivers in a Large Basin, with emphasis on the ‘Mapping and Convergence of 5Ps’ – People, Policy, Plan, Programme and Project.
- The three-day-long summit will aim to give an insight into the potential causes for divergence and formulate a strategy to achieve convergence.
- The 5 broad themes of the summit are Science and Policy, Finance and Economics, Technology and Innovation, International and Implementation Challenges.
- In the 5th edition of the India Water Impact Summit, understanding the concept and nuances of Arth Ganga was the key focus.

Pradhan Mantri Kaushal Kaam Karyakram (PMKKK) Renamed as Promotion of Prime Minister`s Heritage (PM Vikas) Scheme
The Pradhan Mantri Virasat Ka Samvardhan (PM VIKAS) Scheme has replaced the Pradhan Mantri Kaushal Ko Kaam Karyakram (PMKKK), according to Smt. Smriti Zubin Irani, Minister of Minority Affairs, in response to a question in the Lok Sabha. Five former Ministry of Finance programs—Seekho aur Kamao, USTTAD, Hamari Dharohar, Nai Roshni, and Nai Manzil—have been combined into one integrated programme. The Cabinet has given the plan their blessing for the duration of the 15th Finance Commission.
PM VIKAS aims to improve livelihoods of the minorities, particularly the artisan communities, using the components of skill development, education, women leadership & entrepreneurship. These components compliment each other in the ultimate objective of the scheme to increase the incomes of the beneficiaries and provide support by facilitating credit and market linkages.
