Indian Navy conducts major exercise TROPEX-23

 
The "Theatre Level Operational Readiness Exercise for 2023" (TROPEX-23), a four-month exercise conducted by the Indian Navy from November 2022 to March 2023, came to an end in the Arabian Sea. Almost 75 planes, 70 Indian Navy ships, six submarines, and other vessels participated in TROPEX-23.

  • TROPEX is being is conducted in many phases to test Navy’s transition from peacetime to hostilities.
  • In the first phase, the Indian Navy had conducted coastal defence exercise ‘Sea Vigil’ along the entire coastline and Island territories of India on 12-13 January 2021.
  • This exercise directed to authenticate the coastal defence setup of the country that was completely overhauled after the 26/11 terror attacks at Mumbai.
  • The exercise witnessed large-scale participation from Indian Navy, Coast Guard, Marine Police of 13 coastal States and Union Territories along with other stakeholders in the maritime domain.
 
Aim of the exercise TROPEX:
 
  • This exercise is being conducted in the Indian Ocean Region and its adjunct water with the aim of testing Indian navy’s warfare preparedness in an intricate multi-faceted plan set in the context of the current geo strategic environment.
  • This exercise also aims to validate Navy’s offensive-defence capabilities, protect national interests in the maritime domain and encourage stability and peace in the Indian Ocean Region. Naval Headquarters with participation from all three Commands of the Indian Navy and the Tri-Services Command at Port Blair supervises the conduct of TROPEX exercise.

Narender Singh Tomar inaugurates “AgriUnifest” in Bengaluru

The "AgriUnifest" festival was launched in Bengaluru, Karnataka, on March 15, 2023 by Union Minister of Agriculture and Farmers Welfare Narendra Singh Tomar. Bangalore Agricultural University and the Indian Council of Agricultural Research are working together to put on a 5-day cultural programme (ICAR). 60 State Universities and Central Universities have sent around 2500 students to participate.

 

The All India Inter Agricultural University Youth Festival was conceptualized and initiated by ICAR during 1999-2000 to integrate Indian agriculture by connecting various Indian cultures so that the talents of the youth of agricultural universities can be nurtured and they can appreciate Indian cultural diversity. INS Dronacharya Receives Prestigious President Droupadi Murmu’s Colour Award

In recognition of its excellent services, the President`s Colour will be given to the foremost gunnery school of the Indian Navy, INS Dronacharya. The medal will be presented by President Droupadi Murmu as the highest honour given to a unit by the President, who also serves as the Supreme Commander of the armed forces, in recognition of their great contribution to the nation.

 

About the INS Dronacharya

INS Dronacharya, situated in Kochi, is responsible for providing comprehensive training on gunnery and missile warfare to officers and sailors from the Navy, Coast Guard, and friendly foreign maritime forces. Its primary objective is to equip them with the skills necessary to deliver ordnance on target with precision.

 

In 2004, INS Dronacharya was named the Center for Excellence in gunnery and missile warfare. The unit has a joint affiliation with the Indian Army School of Artillery, fostering a spirit of collaboration. The institution’s alumni have demonstrated exceptional courage, dedication, and professionalism in both wartime and peacetime operations, earning them several awards, including one Mahavir Chakra, Kirti Chakra, and Yudh Seva Medal, five Veer Chakra, and seven Shaurya Chakra accolades.
