National Water Awards 2020 Announced:
Union Minister of Jal Shakti Gajendra Singh Shekhawat has announced the winners of the third National Water Awards for the year 2020.
Highlights
- Uttar Pradesh was named the Best State for Water Conservation in the National Water Awards 2020.
- Rajasthan comes in second and Tamil Nadu comes in third. A citation, a trophy, and a monetary prize are all part of the award.
- Muzaffarnagar in Uttar Pradesh won the best district award in the northern zone, followed by Shahid Bhagat Singh Nagar in Punjab.
- In 2018, the Jal Shakti Ministry established the National Water Award to recognise and motivate individuals and organisations who excel in water resource management.
- There have been 57 awards announced in 11 categories in total.
- There are several categories, including Best State, Best District, Best Village Panchayat, Best Urban Local Body, Best Media (Print & Electronic), Best School, Best Institution/RWA/Religious Organization for Campus Use, Best Industry, Best NGO, Best Water User Association, and Best Industry for CSR Activity.
