IIT Ropar & IISc Bangalore ranked No 1 among the 56 Indian institutes in the Times Higher Education World University Ranking 2020:
World University Rankings 2020, published by the United Kingdom (UK) based Times Higher Education (THE), Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Ropar and Indian Institute of Science (IISc) Bangalore were ranked number 1 among the 56 Indian institutes on the list of the best universities of the world, beating IIT Bombay and IIT Delhi. Since 2012, for the first time Indian institutions did not feature among the top 300 in World University Rankings 2020.
i. The rankings were released on September 11, 2019, at the THE World Academic Summit in Zurich, Switzerland and the event was hosted in partnership with ETH Zurich University.
ii.India is the fifth most represented country in the list and the third most-represented in Asia after Japan and mainland China

###550th birth anniversary UNESCO to translate and publish an anthology of Guru Nanak Dev’s writings in world languages on his:
Ministry of Culture of the union government notified that in commemoration of the 550th birth anniversary (April 15, 1469) of Guru Nanak Dev, United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) will translate and publish an anthology of Guru Nanak Dev’s writings in different major languages of the world.
Construction of Kartarpur Corridor from Dera Baba Nanak in Gurdaspur district in Punjab to the international border, the development of the historic town of Sultanpur Lodhi as a heritage town on the smart city principle, the upgradation of Sultanpur Lodhi railway station and release of commemorative coins and postage stamps are the other events and initiated projects to mark the anniversary.
