1. Russia’s Igla-S missile system
• Indian Army has picked Russia’s Igla-S missile system as choice for its multibillion dollar contract for man-portable air defence systems (MANPADS).
• It is latest model of Russian MANPADS (Man-portable air-defense system) technology. It offers superior performance over earlier supplied SA-18 missiles to India.
• It is designed for use against visible aerial targets at short range such as tactical aircraft, helicopters, unmanned aerial vehicle (UAVs), cruise missile, head-on or receding, in presence of natural (background) clutter and countermeasures.
• As per requirements of Indian Army, it will have maximum range of 6km, altitude of 3km along with all-weather capability.
2. Admiral Sunil Lanba, Chief of the Naval Staff to Visit Russia

• Admiral Sunil Lanba, Chief of the Naval Staff, Indian Navy is visiting Russia from 26 to 29 November 2018.
• The visit aims to consolidate bilateral defence relations with Russia, as also to explore new avenues for defence cooperation.
3. National Cadet Corps (NCC) 70th Raising Day

• National Cadet Corps (NCC),the largest uniformed youth organisation in the world,celebrating its 70th Raising Day on 25th November. Director General NCC Lt Gen PP Malhotra, laid a wreath on behalf of the entire NCC fraternity.
• The raising day is also being celebrated all over India with cadets participating in marches, cultural activities and social development programmes.
4. IAF Kiran Trainer Aircraft Crash

• An Indian Air Force Kiran trainer aircraft was airborne from Air Force Station Hakimpet on 28 Nov 18 at 1130 hrs on a routine training mission.
• The aircraft crashed in the local flying area at approximately 1150 hrs. The pilot ejected safely.
5. Validation Exercise & Closing Ceremony: Exercise Indra 2018

• The Tenth Edition of Indo-Russian joint military exercise EX INDRA 2018 culminated on 28 November 2018 after a joint tactical exercise and an impressive closing ceremony held at Babina Military Station.
• The eleven day long joint training that commenced on 18 November 2018 included developing common understanding of transnational terrorism, interoperability and conduct of joint tactical operations controlled by a Joint Command Post working under the aegis of United Nations.
• The troops learnt about each other’s organisations and exchanged ideas and best practices being followed in peace enforcement under aegis of the United Nations.
• Military officials of both countries witnessed the validation exercise conducted at Babina Field Firing Ranges.
