  • For Factors, such as net worth, the Capital to Risk-weighted Assets Ratio (CRAR), exposure limitations, and branch expansion, a differentiated regulatory approach was advised.
  • A vital component of the recommendations was belonging to an umbrella organisation. The RBI agreed to a number of committee recommendations.

  • The Union Cabinet has approved the introduction of a Bill in Parliament, called the Central Universities (Amendment) Bill, 2022, to amend the Central Universities Act, 2009 for setting up Gati Shakti Vishwavidyalaya (GSV).
  • The amendment would help convert a Deemed-to-be University, National Rail and Transportation Institute (NRTI), into Gati Shakti Vishwavidyalaya, a Central University. 
  • The NRTI offers BBA in transportation management courses, BSc in transportation technology, and MSc in railway system engineering and integration.
 
About Gati Shakti Vishwavidyalaya:
  • The Gati Shakti Vishwavidyalaya is expected to be a key enabler for developing the transportation sector, which is strategically critical for the economic growth and development of India.

Uddhav Thackeray Resigns As Maharashtra Chief Minister

 
The Maharashtra chief minister, Uddhav Thackeray, has resigned.

  • This came immediately after the Supreme Court refused to remain Maharashtra Governor`s direction to the Uddhav Thackeray-led Maha Vikas Aghadi government to take a floor test in the Assembly. 
  • Late in the evening, Mr. Uddhav submitted his resignation to Mr. Bhagat Singh Koshyari. 
  • The Governor accepted the resignation of Mr. Uddhav and asked him to officiate as the CM until alternate arrangements were made.
  • Uddhav Thackeray said that he had come (to power) in an unexpected manner, and he was going out in a similar fashion. He revealed that he was not going away forever, he would be there, and he would once again sit in Shiv Sena Bhawan. He added that he would gather all his people, and he was also quitting as a member of the Legislative Council.

Krishi Yatra Scheme Was Launched By Karnataka Government

  • The Karnataka government launched the "Krishi Yatra" scheme.

  • The Kashi Yatra project, which provides cash assistance of Rs 5,000 to each of the 30,000 pilgrims willing to conduct a pilgrimage to the Kashi Vishwanath Temple in Varanasi.
  • For this, the government will be using funds of up to 7 crores from the accounts head of "Assistance to Manasa Sarovara Pilgrims," which was announced in the CM`s budget speech for the financial year. 
  • Shashikala Jolle, who is the Minister for Religious Endowment, Hajj, and Wakf, said any pilgrim taking up the government-sponsored "Kashi Yatra" would receive the benefit only once in a lifetime.
 
Eligibility to apply for the scheme:
  • The beneficiary must be a native of Karnataka
  • Applicant must be above 18 years old
  • Beneficiaries who already availed the subsidy once are not eligible
 
Required Documents:
  • Proof of beneficiaries` domicile of origin in Karnataka – voter ID, ration card, or Aadhaar card
  • Age proof – voter ID, Aadhaar card, etc.
