NEET 2024 cutoffs:
Updated on: 19-12-2023
NEET 2024 cutoffs:
Category-Wise Cutoff: NEET cutoff scores are typically released separately for different categories, including General (UR), Other Backward Classes (OBC), Scheduled Castes (SC), and Scheduled Tribes (ST). Each category has its own cutoff score.
Minimum Qualifying Percentile: In addition to the cutoff scores, NEET also has a minimum qualifying percentile. In the past, candidates were required to score at least the minimum qualifying percentile to be eligible for counselling and admission. This percentile was usually set at 50th percentile for General Category, 40th percentile for OBC, SC, and ST categories, and 45th percentile for PwD (Physically Handicapped) candidates.
State-Wise Cutoffs: Some states in India conduct their own counselling processes for state quota seats, and they may have their own cutoff scores. These state-specific cutoffs can vary widely from one state to another.
Factors Affecting Cutoffs: NEET cutoff scores can be influenced by the overall performance of candidates in the exam, the number of available seats, and the difficulty level of the paper. In tougher years, the cutoff scores may be lower, and in easier years, they may be higher.
Counselling Process: Cutoff scores are used to determine eligibility for counselling and seat allotment. Candidates who meet or exceed the cutoff score for their respective category are eligible to participate in the counselling process.
NEET cut-off score is the minimum mark necessary for a candidate to secure qualification in the medical entrance test. Within medical entrance assessments, there exist two primary types of NEET cut-offs: the qualifying cut-off and the admission cut-off. The NEET qualifying score represents the minimum mark a candidate must achieve to successfully clear the examination, while the NEET admission cut-off denotes the final rank at which an applicant becomes eligible for admission.
Admission to the following UG medical seats will be considered based on the NEET 2023 cut-off:
- 15% All India Quota (AIQ) seats
- 85% State Quota seats
- Deemed and Central universities
- ESIC and AFMS
- Private institutes
- AIIMS institutes
- JIPMER colleges
